US President Joe Biden's prolonged taunt on Afghanistan last night should open the eyes of large parts of the world deliberately closed. The first thing is that Biden has accepted America's defeat, even by turning around. He said that the work of withdrawal of US forces would be completed on August 13, the predetermined date and there would be no special event on the occasion.
The President knows that there is no reason to organize and celebrate. When he was saying this, I was reminded of Boris Gromov, the commander of the Soviet army. On February 15, 1989, when the last units were returning from Afghanistan on the bridge over the Amu Darya, Gromov was in the last jeep. When his car reached the middle of the bridge, he got down from the car and crossed the rest of the way on foot. Gromov didn't look back. Similarly, Biden, the Supreme Commander of the US Army, is saying that what happens in Afghanistan now is not his responsibility. There was an orgy of destruction, it was done.
But, even if it had been so, it could have been abandoned. Biden, who has spent his entire life setting-plotting in the US capital, is making statements to his annoyance, which to the displeasure of the entire American Establishment, that there has never been peace in Afghanistan, the country is not united, the Taliban may be coming. etc etc. This annoyance is not just the one that comes from defeat. Afghanistan is a big symbol of the collapse of the American Empire. It is a bigger symbol than Vietnam. It is a bigger symbol than Hiroshima and Nagasaki. It is more humiliating than the British and Soviet humiliation for the American Empire. Whenever America tries to impose itself like a hegemon further, its escape from Bagram in the dark of night will follow it like a phantom.
America's return is not only the end of two decades of war, but it is the final end of two centuries of 'The Great Game'. The game's main players - America, Britain and Russia - are just spectators standing on the sidelines of this final scene. And, a new outsider, with ways different from theirs, with no missionary agenda, with no intention of imposing his own civilization and politics, who was on the sidelines, now comes to the stage and so comes It's like it's still in the background. It is another matter that it will take a long time for the Afghans to be born.
Another interesting point about the US President, who is also an example of the deceit of the British and Soviet leadership. He has said that America did not go there for nation building. That's right, the British, Soviet and American power only kept on forming the government of their pawns, what about those who go to Afghanistan.
However, the most interesting statement has come from Ashraf Ghani, the President of Afghanistan. He has said that the Afghan government will never surrender. Ah, the phrase- read between the lines...
